Holy shit I've never seen anyone else talk about moss of aura before. They were on the same label as my buddies sisters band.

When I was first getting back into guitar I would use moss of aura as backing tracks to jam over

Well I think the rain is going to cancel everything at the Harbor BUT the fireworks apparently from what I saw from WBAL today on TV… but Fells Point would probably be a good starting point.

Assuming work is covering the expense of meals/etc….

Duck, duck, goose is a great restaurant. You could probably get a seat at the bar.

Thames St Oyster house but probably a tough seat for dinner.

RYE is great little dive/speakeasy type place for a drink.

Maxs Taphouse is never a bad time but idk if they are doing an event that night.

Waterfront Hotel just remodeled their second floor and is a great spot to catch live music (cue the Atlas hate, but the second floor WTF is great)

Butts & Betty’s is open for 22 hours straight.

Count-Bulky t1_j29bdkb wrote

Isn’t that like two extra hours for them?

ParoxysmAttack t1_j2c0zg2 wrote

Ha. Nah a COVID took a toll on them like every other place in the world. They’re daily now but like 3pm til last call or something like that.

I suppose I admire the stamina, but who wants a drink at 6AM on the morning of NYE?

WhiskeySparkleTits t1_j27au0k wrote

It’s been a long while since I celebrated NYE in Baltimore but back in the day none of the bars had closing times for NYE. You could literally be out drinking almost anywhere until 3,4,5 or even 6 in the morning. Not sure if that still happens now, but if it does I recommend sleeping in late tomorrow, taking a midday nap, and start your evening around 10pm. Again, having not even visited in about 8 years I’m not even sure if my usual stomping grounds are still around but if they are: One Eyed Mike’s, Blarney Stone, 1919, knotty pine, Walt’s are all great places to stop by (a little spread out but covers Fells to Highlandtown).

RIP Gecko’s- which was always the best place to be at 4am.

If there are still tickets, the NYE party at Mobtown Ballroom is the best thing ever.

In all seriousness I’ve worked in the city since I was 17. 10 of those years as a messenger exploring every corner of this city as a profession. Lived all over this city until I got my wife pregnant and got out. I’m 30 now, and I still can’t give someone a good “Baltimore exclusive” recommendation of what do while you’re here. Don’t get robbed dood, move with purpose, don’t look out of place (like a tourist) 🤷🏼‍♂️

PoopIsAlwaysSunny t1_j2795wi wrote

Well then you’re not very familiar with the city. I could give a number of “Baltimore exclusive” experiences. Baltimore’s a weird city with a lot of history.

16

advptr t1_j27cqel wrote

You know where else has history? The entire fucking planet.

−8

PoopIsAlwaysSunny t1_j27dwlh wrote

Not really true. It’s not history if it’s not known. It’s just the past.

Idk where this negativity about the city is coming from. What city do y’all think is so unique and spectacular?

advptr t1_j27mbvr wrote

If your only argument is “oh yeah? Where do you know that is better?” Just accept that you love a turd. It’s okay, I love our turd too.

advptr t1_j27c60z wrote

“Fed hill” everywhere has hills with flags. “Edgar Allen poes grave” they have dead historical dudes everywhere. “Canton?” They have gentrification everywhere. “Fells point?” They have violence and bars everywhere “hampden?” They have historically racist communities filled with hipsters everywhere. I love my city but y’all need to face it as far as experiences exclusive to our city? all we have is blue crabs a contaminated harbor full of body’s/litter, John’s Hopkins and the word “dummy” being friendly 🤷🏼‍♂️

advptr t1_j27cg0h wrote

The whole city isn’t a warzone like people say though, I’ll say that much lol

absolut696 t1_j2ap9sk wrote

None of this incoherent rant even answers OP’s question. Why are you even bothering commenting? No one cares about your boring ass career as a messenger, lol.

advptr t1_j2ax8lp wrote

Mess reference was just a point of reference for how well I know this city 🤷🏼‍♂️
