They are Lebanese as far as I know
Edit: mixed it up with Byblos

Think they’re Turkish?
trymypi t1_j5f9pvy wrote
I could be wrong about Lebanese, might be mixing them up, but menu doesn't look Turkish
fafaflooie t1_j5gt1ih wrote
They call it Mediterranean

Food from Nice, France is Mediterranean but it's not the same. I thought I had seen some Lebanese items on the menu but I may have been thinking somewhere else.

Lebanese Taverna in harbor East. Mmm so good!

Even though I recommended this place in another post for a large gathering, I went here for business with a colleague from Lebanon and he was unimpressed. I don’t think it’s particularly bad but that’s my anecdote from a Lebanese person
MP_APHIA t1_j5cwpz9 wrote
This place has taken a real nose dive over the years. This place isn't in the same league as the other places that are recommended in this post. I would avoid it unless you're just looking for something that's marginally good and you happen to be in the neighborhood.

It’s not a bad place if you are in that area but the quality has gone down a lot over the years.

Baba’s Mediterranean Kitchen in Riverside/Locust Point. Not exclusively Lebanese food but lots of crossover, and the owner is just the best. Amazing food and friendly vibes. BYOB.

This is the answer.

Unless something has changed, hard disagree with the takes on Byblos. The food is delicious, and the people who own it are the very sweetest people I’ve ever met. Really, they are absolutely wonderful.
lolalovesthebeach t1_j5bq97l wrote
Completely agree
Edit: the owners are Lebanese and the dishes is authentic. I would (and do) recommend to anyone looking for traditional Lebanese food.

I eat a lot of Mediterranean and Lebanese food . Byblos have the best bread I have ever eaten. You can bring your own bottle too .

If you’re willing to go out into the county, I highly recommend Villagio Cafe in Towson. It’s incredibly delicious Persian food
Mrincognito1 t1_j5bzcfr wrote
Villagio is one of my favorite places to eat in the county. Make sure you get the appetizer platter it’s pricey $18 but totally worth it.

Actually I’m in the county so I’ll check this out. Thanks!

Byblos in Fed Hill is owned by a Lebanese family. The food is ok, but the owner is an artist and has all of his paintings in the wall in the restaurant. It’s a small space but one of those that has a homey feel.

Good spot and it’s BYOB

Their food is marginally acceptable at best. I would not recommend.

Mera is great but I believe the chef is Syrian. Not that it’s far off, Levantine food does tend to have a bit of similarity. But it’s also a bit of a fusion with other types of cuisines and not authentically Lebanese.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like we will try Lebanese Taverna.

Another vote for Lebanese Taverna. If you get takeout make sure to get their dough so you can have fresh bread with leftovers.

First thing that comes to mind is definitely Lebanese taverna in harbor east. Haven't been there in a few years, but I remember it being pretty good (but a bit pricey).
fafaflooie t1_j5ekdh7 wrote
Lots in Fed Hill, but for pure Lebanese I’d say Byblos. Baba’s also, but that’s not so much a restaurant anymore. Zatar is great but not true Lebanese. So, pack up your beverages of choice and head to Byblos.
fafaflooie t1_j5glrox wrote
Byblos in Federal Hill. Not a fan of Lebanese Taverna. There is a new place at the Ritz called Ammoora. Middle Eastern, but I haven’t been there yet. Positive reviews.
PitchFormal921 t1_j5lw0f3 wrote
Byblos is my go to. I prefer the smaller Lebanese Taverna's you see in AACo and MoCo compared to the large one we have here, but it's also very good

Surprised to see someone say Lebanese Taverna has taken a nose dive in quality. We were there yesterday for lunch and it was phenomenal!
