I just finished reading "The Inmate" and wow was that book beyond stupid, too many unbelievable events happening the whole second half of the book. It was already a giant coincidence to be working in the same prison as her old boyfriend she turned in but then it just got dumber and dumber to the point where when the twist started happening I just speedread the rest of the book. Man what a waste of time, I'd give it a 2/5 maybe a 1 if I think about it more.

When I was on a thriller kick a few months back, I would just burn through an author's whole stock if I liked them (good way to find lazy writing between books). I read a few of hers, and they all just ended up being like "oh, okay ... sure" and always tied up with a nice bow or a quippy one-liner that was just too on the nose, not real life.

I never read The Inmate, though. While I did like a few of hers that turned out okay and or weren't super predictable, every time The Inmate appeared as an option, something about the description made me think I wasn't going to like it or it was going to be too unbelievable (which it sounds like it was!).

I just read it too. If it hadn't been a buddy read, I would have probably DNFd it. The MC was unbelievably stupid and I was just hate reading it from 30% onwards.

Not going read anything else by her because she apparently rips off other popular books and if you dare say it anywhere you get badgered by her rabid fans. Lame behaviour.

I have not finished reading this book yet, I’m about 80% through and I’m screaming. Why after all her suspicions about him and him gifting her the same exact necklace she had on the night she was almost murdered WOULD SHE JUST WILLINGLY GO TO HIS HOUSE FOR DINNER?!? She’s so dumb I can’t handle it.

(Sorry if this was mentioned already, I did not read any comments to avoid spoilers.)

I will! I’ll be done with it tomorrow! I was trying to finish tonight but it’s gotten too late. I’m on Chapter 50…she’s agreed to give Shane a ride to the farmhouse 👀

Nice! What did you think of all the twists? Personally I hated them I thought it was so dumb how >! The babysitter was Shane’s mom the whole time and they managed to somehow get a body into Tim’s house to frame him and the fact the kid managed to kill Shane with an icicle because of some random line Tim told him I swear it was like I was reading a manga !<

I feel the same! I thought most of it was very predictable! Plus the twists were too much, it felt like any shock value was lost because there were so many at the end it started to be very unrealistic. Plus Brooke was about the dumbest main character I’ve ever come across in a book!! I just read the description of The Paris Apartment and it sounds good! I think I may read that one next as well!

Glad to see people feel the same. If you want a recommendation, the book I read before this one I loved "The Kind Worth Killing"
