Currently reading a book that has exact plot as another book I read a few weeks ago.

It's about a current day woman that comes into possession of an old musical manuscript and tries to identify the composer and original owner by traveling to it's last known location in Europe.

Also follows the journey of the manuscript from a historical perspective. Some of the details such as relationship drama with the woman in possession of the manuscript, facing obstacles from current day musicologists, etc. are just so similar.

I get that this sub-genre of music and historical fiction is pretty niche, but the similarities are uncanny. These books were published in back to back years.

Have you come across something similar? Did one writes 'steal' a plotline and expand on it? Is there nothing knew that could have been created to explore this topic?

Books in question are:

'And After the Fire ' by Lauren Belfer, 2016 'The Prague Sonata ' by Bradford Morrow, 2017
