There are only a couple of scooters on the market that can do 30mph. 95% of what you see in Boston top out at 19mph. OP is clearly over exaggerating.

Or just someone with a realistic understanding of how fast scooters go (and how fast someone could realistically even drive one on a Boston sidewalk)

That level of understanding should also come with common sense. Whether they’re going 30, 20, or 10mph that is too fast for a sidewalk where the primary speed is that of a slow pigeon.
