Walk if the weather is nice. If it's an option try getting on the train at Back Bay rather than South Station so you can ride the Orange Line straight there, otherwise I would prefer Green-> Red over Orange-> Red because of how long it can take for the orange line to show up (especially right now)
LadyGreyIcedTea t1_j22bxtg wrote
The good thing about the green and orange line at North Station is that they use the same platform so you can just take whichever shows up first. That's what I used to do going back to Longwood to get my car at the Simmons garage after Bruins/Celtics games when I parked there for work. If the green came first, I'd take it to Longwood and if the orange came first, I'd take it to Ruggles.

Walking, really. It's stupid that they aren't connected, but Boston does stupid really well sometimes.

That disconnect is capitalism at work. Back in the day the entirely private company that ran the North Station line and the entirely private company that ran the South Station rail line did not care to cooperate, so here we are. And yes, both places are Terminals.

Either walk,
Or
Take red line towards alewife, and get off at downtown crossing and take orange line towards Oak Grove and get off at north station
Or
Take red line towards alewife, and get off at park street and take green line towards Union square/Medford and get off at north station.

Orange Line to DTX, change to Red. Walking is probably faster, but sometimes the weather sucks or you just don't feel like it.

Green line to park, red line to south station.
There you can also take the silver line to the Black falcon cruise terminal and go to Bermuda. (Not a joke)

It’s all about focusing on primary colors and where they intersect to make other colors. North station is green and orange and the red and silver go to south station. Consult your color wheel my friend! Best of luck

Walk. Or take commuter rail to Porter Square Cambridge, switch to the Red Line, take that to Washington, switch to commuter rail to South Station. MA has a Hub and Spoke system. But nothing connects the spokes. And there are actually Two Unconnected Hubs that should have been connected when built. And then should have been connected during the Big Dig when the highway was relocated underground.

You could try taking the 4 bus if the time lines up well - it runs very infrequently.

Welcome to Boston! As you may have guessed right now, you’ve exposed the single greatest gap in our public transit map.
From a T perspective, your only real option is to take the green line to Park and then the Red Line to South station. Depending on your end destination, you can also consider switching to the Orange Line at North Station and then getting off at Downtown Crossing and walking.
