So my baby to be has a heart defect (TGA) & I’m being induced Friday @ The Brigham, then our little guy to be will be transferred to Childrens. To say I’m nervous & overwhelmed AF is an understatement.

This has been the scariest most unpredictable pregnancy & the unknown & what’s to come has me the most anxious. I am thankful however that my family and I were able to work with a local organization to secure housing near the hospital starting this week till February. Once I’m discharged I’ll be able to be w/my baby during the day & go back at night & truly rest & recover.

I’ve never delivered at Brigham before can anyone give me an idea of what to expect? Will I be allowed visitors @B&W? Will Childrens allow our oldest children visit the baby? I’ve been hearing different answers so I thought I’d ask here.

Trying to stay positive I hope everyone has a happy Christmas, Hanukkah & Kwanzaa. And we hope our CHD/heart warrior arrives just in time for Christmas.

I delivered at the Brigham and it was a fantastic experience. The nursing staff in particular were so caring, attentive and protective (like making sure all visitors had to go to them first, after an incident when my in-laws from came in while I was hooked up to hospital breast pump - yeah that was fun). I definitely had children visit us there; can’t say about Children’s beyond it’s a world-class hospital.

Sorry to hear about all of the issues. Have no advice to give, unfortunately, but sending good thoughts and hoping for a healthy delivery and treatment.

Best of luck. I don't know the answers to your specific questions, but if you call the hospitals I'm sure they can answer. I think last time I was at Children's there were no visitors under 12 allowed.

My daughter had surgery for a couple CHD at Children's at 3 months old and made a full recovery. The cardiac ICU and everyone in it was amazing. Best of luck to you.

In your shoes those two hospitals are exactly where I’d want to be receiving medical care. Very best wishes for health and healing to you and your baby.

You will be allowed adult visitors but I don't know one way or the other about child visitors. Brigham is a phenomenal hospital. I'll be sending good vibes! <3

My kid was transferred to the NICU at MGH after birth. This was pre-covid, but the rule there was only children that were siblings could visit. Otherwise, if you want to stay the night, MGH had a limited amount of bunk rooms you could crash in that were part of the unit. As for food, see if you qualify as a patient to receive food. If there is a community fridge in unit, be careful. My food got stolen or picked through multiple times at MGH, even when marked. Not sure what BWH will be like, but I'm sure you'll have a great experience with the staff

I know it’s a really scary time but Brigham/children’s have amazing care. Best wishes to you and your little one! If it’s anything like Beth Israel they’ll allow up to two people to be there with you during delivery

My sister was born with a heart condition that ended up needing surgery and ultimately required a pacemaker. So our family spent a huge amount of time at Childrens Hospital. They are incredible in every way. Talented, compassionate and innovative. And the facilities themselves are also really nice and uplifting. My sister is now 38 and going strong (and still getting checkups at Childrens). Wishing you and your family all the best! You're in good hands.
