The only place downtown where you can get full on $4? Super nice old Chinese couple running the whole joint, if you haven’t been, it’s the furthest your money will go downtown, not just for food, but for supporting a decent small business.

I walk past this often, I'll give them a try. Anything you recommend?

They have three proteins (curry chicken, chicken and onions, and some saucy tofu stuff) and three starches (fried rice, lo mein, and Singapore noodles). I normally go for chicken curry over Singapore noodles or chicken and onions over lo mein.

Their dumplings are bad, but the dough is like a quarter inch thick so they’re really filling. I’ve never had their soup, so I can’t speak to that.

Just keep in mind that all of the food is only fine. $4 for a small plate is a good deal, but not THAT good of a deal for what you get. It’s great to have around if you’re in the area and want a cheap meal, but I would never recommend that anyone make a point to go there.

I love Ding Ho! Been going there since college 20 years ago. We used to swear their $3 plate (back then it was $3) would cure any hangover.
