I’ve always been a playstation guy and was fully planning on getting a PS5, but Back when the pre orders started for them in like October 2020, I was itching to replay some PS3/360 Era games and I didn’t have either console at that point so I decided to get a Series X for the Backwards compatibility. Now though I have 2 PS3s and a PS2 so I only use my Series X for new 3rd party games and I mainly just use my PS4 because I don’t really like the Xbox exclusives either. Just wondering if anyone else feels similarly

I bought a Series X then I bought a PS5 a few months later.
I rarely played the PS5 at all and ended up selling it again a few months after that. I don't regret it.
I've been a fan of Playstations since the first, and also Xboxes since the first too (as well as Sega and Nintendo), but I just didn't use it.
My Xbox gets a lot of use, and I have a Series S as well which sits in the bedroom for when the TV is occupied.
I'm also very much in to cloud gaming which Xbox has done so much better at than Sony in recent years (but I prefer Geforce Now to both)

Yes. I llike gamepass, but dont use my PS5.

Once you get used to gamepass, buying those Sony games are just way way too expensive. I plan on selling it.

I got a PS5 at launch and a Series X a couple months later. My PS5 hasn't been booted up in probably 4 or 5 months. Wasn't expecting that either. I've been Playstation first since the PS1, but also always owned an Xbox since the original, it was always just a "Halo, Gears, Forza machine". Completely skipped Xbox last gen, but was drawn to the Series X because I find it to be a better looking system than the PS5. I have to say, coming back to Xbox since the 360, I'm really surprised with how much I prefer the Xbox UI to the Playstation's. The Xbox ecosystem overall is better as well, and of course, Game Pass.

Super hyped for Starfield.

So yeah, kinda wish I would have saved the money I spent on a PS5, but I also don't regret owning it.

I went from xbox360 to ps4 back to xbox1 and bow seriesX.

The game pass for Xbox is pretty cool plus it networks easily with my PV and reads most media I have on it. Ps4 I couldn't get it talking to any computer for media and found it was too much of a Sony echo system similar to how Mac has one for there products

No. I would if I had a Series X though probably. Everything available on Series X is available on my PC or even my Xbox One. All of my Sony and current gen exclusives are on my PS5.

kinda dude. ive been saying for a while now that i also regretted buying next gen and that its not really ready yet. i bought a ps5 when they were newish. but since buying one i have found myself getting fed up and bored wit the lack of games and lack of newer game replay value or even lack of fun content in general. it could be my age..... im 37M but finding games just quite boring now. older games are still fun though (and there are exceptions... like i did enjoy elden ring - but again only single play through then its boring again) so im not sure. its not like i find them too difficult or anything (still a gamer at core), but just that the content feels emptier now. full of graphics and great sounds and physics but no soul. also only seems to be the same games getting knocked out every 6 months.

but getting more specific.... i dont feel theres enough games out for ps5 to actually warrant the price tag, yet. otherwise its a fantastic bit of hardware, which i use mostly as a super ps4. the majority will end up playing ps4 games on it mostly (but only due to lack of choice of actual good ps5 games) and for that its actually brilliant!

probably not a popular opinion but an honest one from an older fart

summary:

Ps5 is not worth it yet unless you want to use it as a super fast ps4 or have a very few selection of games for a hefty price tag.

I still play the crap out of my xbox One... and recently joined PC race... but still use my Xbox Gamepass ultimate. I get tons of joy from my Old VCR when friends come over and we play on my big 55' 4k TV.

I stream some "current gen" titles on the old boy sometimes but has still given me years of pleasure.

Don't have current Gen though

I have both consoles and both are collecting an equal amount of dust. I have both PS+ and Gamepass, neither of which have increased or influenced my gaming habits in any sustainable manner.

Do I regret buying them? No, not really. But I'm certainly not getting much use out of them either and I suspect it's because the games just don't move me anymore. I spend more time playing my older consoles or my Switch because, for me, they simply are more fun.

i still call it that out of habit and the fact that PS5s are still hard to find and a lot of people don’t have one
