that plus the fact that over half of the employers just had no response whatsoever to the application: proves that most employers don’t give a shit about people on a personal level. the people are just NPC’s in a world the employer thinks they are the MC in.

I've heard that it's rare that an actual person even sees the application in the first round of elimination. They're filtered by an algorithm that looks for certain keywords. The old method of submitting a resume and application is basically like playing the lottery these days since you're just a piece of paper and there's nothing that makes you stand out. Your best bet is networking: find friends or friends of friends that work in the industry and get connected through them.

This! If your friend or acquaintance recommend you to their employer for a position, you are much more likely to have a real person look over your resume as well as more likely to receive an interview.
It doesn't mean you'll get an offer for the job though, that's still on you.
