Stop referring to any book that describes a secuual scene as "porn." This us exactly what people trying to have books banned are calling it to get people riled up. Most of the time they don't know the context, and haven't read the book. Actual porn is visual, usually graphic, and intended to arouse a viewer. These books have a story to them that is not intended for that.

I used “porn” because I only counted books that contained detailed penetrative sex scenes in them. I would’ve put “erotic” or “erotica” but I fet that the word “porn” was more accessible to all people and would make the data I wanted to show more widely understood. As for book banning, I’d say books with contentious ideology/ theme are what gets them banned, no? Books with erotic sex scenes are just given age restrictions which is why you definitely wouldn’t see them in most school libraries, but books with queer representation, focus on racism, and slurs etc are what gets books banned from the system completely.

This isn't about the content of the books, it's about the content of TikTok videos.
