Because it’s standard operating procedure.

Even if that specific step of the SOP is not necessary in this instance, it’s still good practice for the administer in general so that it becomes second nature.

Why would it be inhumane not to swab them? Alcohol prevents infection, it doesn’t anaesthetise the area.

Well there is a chance they will survive the execution. Many ppl have survived executions before. Its more common than you think.

Most people on death row - dont even end up dying from executions. They die of natural causes, suicide, or murder.

If they have to abort the process for any reason, you don't want them dying of an infection.
