I still cant believe people rated S7 so highly, it was just as nonsensical as S8. Maybe people were still expecting it to culminate in something good.

Oh man, so many stories turn to dust in s8. The entire plot of GOT was based on fucking John Snow and how other died to protect his indentity and did absolutely nothing. Also the death of Cercei, it was like: how to kill her in 1 minutes without thinking of anything? And boom

Also how it ended with John on the north wall. This guy killed my queen, i’m gonna spend the rest of my life trying to kill him. His brother: don’t worry we’ll take care of him. Oh ok, then i’m gonna leave and go to that island where i’m gonna die because the fucking writers forgot what they wrote 2 seasons ago.

I have the same surprise for S6. I feel like I was already getting whiplash from the plot acceleration, bored of Dany's character and sick of the "we are vErY rEaLiStIc also Jon Snow survived a solo charge towards thousands of archers without a scratch"

I think there was a lot of wanting to see it to the end, so being willing to look at and enjoy the good parts. Also, I think a lot of what people enjoyed (specific characters' development, great, grand battle scenes, dragons!, nudity :P) was still there.

I think non book readers still had the feeling that the plot and character arcs were well thought through. They thought it was all leading to masterful conclusion.

Then S8 lifted the veil

I haven't seen GOT myself but I love how according to viewers and ratings they built a beautiful airplane and then flew it right into a mountain wall.

They should have made S7 & 8 10 episodes. It's not like they didn't have the money or story for it

main characters dying is part of the Martin world. The parts he did not wrote seem to completly got lost on that writer team.

The last season was terrible and did not fit the martin storylines from the rest.

Went downhill fast as soon as they had no material to draw from the books.

In all fairness, Martin got lazy too, and couldn’t be bothered to finish his story, so I don’t excuse him from at least partial blame for the hack job that was S7 & S8

season 8 was such an absolute disaster I have no desire to ever return to this world again

How easy the white walkers got over the wall.. that should have been an entire episode of them trying to get over the wall. They did it like it was nothing.. that pissed me off soo much, they hyped it up for the entire series and it was made of Legos.

The main character said she wouldn’t do more seasons because of her health, so they had to jump to the end (which hasn’t been written yet bc of the author who’s sat on his ass the last 10 years) it was never gonna turn out good

Such bs. How the hell did the last episode get such a hi mark of 4. Should have been a 2

They really did a poor job with the tempo. If we got to see Daenerys go mad over the course of a whole season, then the ending would have felt justified.

Of course that’s only one of the issues, but it is main one.

Watching last few seasons of GoT was like watching a diving competition. Sure, they weren't going to land the world record and probably wouldn't score all that well, but it's still impressive in its own right.

But then they splattered on the side of the pool.
