What is a Mexican cottage pie?

A cottage pie is a British dish consisting of mince in gravy with mashed potatoes on top and cooked in the oven.
This one is chilli con carne with mashed sweet potato on top.

I’ve heard of cottage pie. I was just curious about the Mexican part. There’s no such thing in Mexico. But it being a Brit thing explains it. I live in TX. We have "Mexican" food here that you’d never find in Mexico.

I know. It’s just something I made up. I know chilli con carne is actually American.
