You're all wrong here. Every ten (8 in some parts) blocks is roughly a mile. 5656 would be roughly 5.6 miles away from the 0 street going through town.

If you're being serious, don't sweat it. It totally makes sense when you realize it, but few people look at it that way.

Im serious, thank you. I grew up rural, probably why I never heard it. Now i know of the house numbering scheme. Figures they would do that, major highways do the even (east/west), odd (north/south).
