Having a dog this close to a newborn?

We have a dog and 4 month old and I'd never do this because of the germs

An over sanitized environment is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. The immune system need exposition to develop and stay strong. Early exposure to animals have been shown to reduce risk of allergy and asthma.
