I backed Shovel Knight and 3d printed minis on KS, I got both of those plus helped launch those companies which have continued to make products. It's a bit like saying the internet is full of scams, yes it is, but if you know how to avoid them you need not fear.

I backed a few products there, from fountain pens to books, and most of them were Chinese stuff that I found on Aliexpress after. I would suggest backing anything on kickstarter unfortunately

Manufacturers in China actually look at Kickstarter campaigns for ideas. Stuff like the Fidget Cube was ripped off and manufactured en masse in China and shipped to the US before the legitimate Fidget Cube was able to finish their kickstarter campaign and ship units.

Kickstarter is investing in a startup. It's not a pre-order platform. You may be using it incorrectly.
