Is the deflection similar to the parrying in sekiro?

I loved sekiro but I couldn't get into the Nioh games because I would just dodge and back away, run in to chip health and then back away. That was mostly down to me not having a good grasp of the combat and getting decimated by enemies. Is this similar or has it changed up the formula?

I didn't really feel that way with Nioh 2 myself, I didn't play a lot of nioh.

I didn't get into sekiro as much cause it felt too slow paced, constantly waiting out attacks and block&parry

Wo Long kinda forces you to go into high risk high reward combat. As you are in a combo you'll need to dodge out of it toward an attacker to deflect the attacks on top of critical blows that will reduce your temporary strength if they hit you. If a critical blow is deflected it hits thier stamina for a huge chuck allowing for big counters. With fortitude levels during each zone you grow stronger through the level the better you do.

Bosses seem to be mostly a dance of waiting out critical blows to deflect and spirit counter.

This is based solely on the second round demo that was released within the last week.

Hmmm that sounds quite intriguing actually. I might have to give this a chance when I get some free time.

Thanks for the explanation!
