Nah, I've just stopped paying attention to games prerelease. Pretty much ignore them until there's reviews

With game development times these days, I think you're on to something.
The next "The Elder Scrolls" game is 10+ years out. Next "Fallout" could be just as long, if not longer.
Cyberpunk 2077 sequel could be around the same length of development time given CDPR track record.

This is the way. Even for games that I'm super hyped about, I just ignore the release date and one day I go "Oh, it's out? Sweet!"

Anthem and Battlefield 2042 were the final nails in the coffin for me getting hyped for games before release. These games had incredible marketing and trailers that didn't at all resemble what we got with the final product. I don't even trust the initial reviews on most games, because now developers will scam the playerbase by holding off on predatory monitization schemes until after the release reviews go out.
So yeah, I don't pay any attention to release dates or marketing for games anymore. I will judge games solely on how good they are when the fully release, regardless of how long they were in development.
