I think this is the first time since Sonic 06 that we have playable characters in a mainline title that isn't just another version for Sonic (I don't count the avatar in Forces as a proper character)

I wish we lived in the alternate universe where Sonic 06 was actually good. 06 had so many good ideas that were wasted.

There was Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Boom but they didnt have their own stories and were just alternatives to using sonic.
