I am at the part of the game pretty early on with the elves. I guess it's like the second or third area. I got there over a month ago and just haven't felt like playing it. It's just not feeling fun. The combat is incredibly boring because the enemies have a ton of health and make the main characters feel really weak. The puzzles are just eh for me, so I feel like the only thing that's making me want to play is the story.

I'm not trying to dog on the game. I think I just don't like this type of game anymore. But does it get better, or is it more of the same? Right now I think I'm leaning towards giving up on it.

Sounds like it’s not your jam. You could probably sail through a bit faster if you turn the difficulty down a bit, but you’re not obligated to like things just because everyone else does. I thoroughly enjoyed it personally, but art isn’t about making sure we all like the same stuff.

Had similar feelings but trust me the game gets so good that you’ll be sad once you finish it.

I really enjoyed the first one. I thought it was pretty amazing. I was stoked to get this one, and it's the only ps5 game I own. But I guess my tastes have just changed. Something similar happened when the last of us part 2 came out. I got about an hour into that.

Maybe lower the difficulty? The regular enemies in the game really don’t have that much health. Are you upgrading your attacks, weapons, and armor?

I've only played the god of war 2018 and saw the majority of Ragnarok on YouTube, but if enemies are hard to beat maybe you should try upgrading your armor and weapons. Or if you want you can also lower the difficulty and then increase the difficulty against bosses if you want a challenge but don't want to spend too much time grinding. And in terms of the story it's pretty good later on. Remember that games with RPG elements are slow in the beginning, but later you will have more weapons, more fighting mechanics, better upgrades and many more things that you will question yourself how were you playing without all that new stuff you got.

Gotcha. It's not about difficulty, I like games difficult generally. I remember beating GOW 3 on the hardest mode... Multiple times. I kind of just want to go play that one again instead. Haha.

Kratos and the other characters just feel really weak, and that doesn't feel fun to me. I don't like when my party of 3 is pummeling one basic enemy for 10 seconds. It's almost comical how weak these gods of war are, at least in the beginning areas.

You literally just started the game. I assume you have at most a couple of hours in the game. If you feel that it is too hard just try to upgrade your gear or lower the difficulty. It is worth the pain and the many deaths. It gets actually just better and some aspects of the game will be harder :)

I felt this way about GoW 2018. Just got bored and never finished. Unpopular opinion I know

I lowered the difficulty personally because I didn't like how long it took to kill enemies.

That being said, if you don't like the game up until that point, chances are you aren't gonna start liking it suddenly. There's no harm in just shelving it and playing something else if you aren't into it.

Raganrok made a few changes to combat to make it better than 2018 but not by much. The bosses are ALOT better but if you still don't like the combat, the improved enemy variety won't mean squat. I personally find the Greek gow games to be infinitely more enjoyable to play through than the Norse games.

Besides the somewhat better but not as good as the originals combat, the game has shitty separated from everything else puzzles that characters will solve for you, and 9 hours of cutscenes/slow scripted walky talky sections.

So if the game hasn't hooked you 1 hour in, it's not gonna get any better.
