1.Fold your cable in three sections.
2.Twist the two middle cables.
3.Align your third one and you'll have a single braid.

Just make an X cross then a line — beneath. The two middle ones are the X and the tethering are the line —
Edit: Similar to an 3 strand hair braids if you're still lost
