I just got a pair of K240’s last week and so far they have blown me away with the staging abilities. I’ve also really liked the flat sound signature, because it’s easier for me to listen to individual instruments and vocals when I’m really trying to pick out details. I honestly think that, even though I’ve been daily driving my HD58x’s for months now, that I enjoy the detail, imaging and vocal representation of the K240’s more based off my desire for more technical performance rather than warmth. My only issue with them is that for some reason they require a lot more power than the Sennheiser’s despite being less than half the impedance and having the same sensitivity.

Which K240? There is like 4 different versions (6 if you count the early, middle, and late production variants of the Sextett)

I just re-read the last part of your post where you talk about the impedance and sensitivity. Yeah, those are studios.

Great headphone. If you like the newer revisions, you would probably love the original Sextett. It does everything the revision does but better.

They are power hungry beasts at 600 ohms with like an 89 db/spl sensitivity, but definitely worth it. Been daily driving them for a couple of years now.

Would recommend trying different earpads, stock is fine but I much prefer mine after getting some thicker pads. The swap is super easy too.

A shorter cable is also nice given how long the stock cable is.

It's a great headphone for the price. Going from bad closed backs to k240s felt like ascending to a higher level of music detail. Love the soundstage, the comfy fit & how it makes acoustic guitar sound.

Hope you enjoy em.

Yeah, these were meant to be driven out of stereo power amps lol. Luckily with how far technology has come now days, it’s pretty easy to find a solid state amp that can handle them.

These things are also 50 years old and still hold up perfectly today. God I love vintage AKG.
