I've had the same experience with my 800S, I've never liked Oratory profiles but an 800/800S with EQ is my personal endgame, I listened to stuff twice as expensive and it just wasn't as good.

The mid-range really is what grabbed me, the day I demoed them I tried a good dozen headphones and the 800S just stood out with how natural the timbre was.

The midrange is something special on these. I love the HD6x0's timbre, but the HD800/800S is like in a different league in terms of natural timbre.
