Hi, I would like to clear out is it my illusion or is it real, doesn't. seem to be able to find much related to this topic.

I have been listening with my IE600 with the Android phone (z fold 4) with the apple dongle. It is fine in the listening experience but when I switch to an iPad/iPhone/MacBook, I feel the music are more opened in my ear in comparison to the android phone.

I don't know if there is any setting error as I have checked many times that the eq on all devices are flat. I have searched on google that people mentioned that it is the dac quality between Samsung and iPhone and apple just simply is better in this regard. I guess I am just too stubborn that I like to have my android phone to be my "listening" device.

Anyone has any thought on the topic, please share!

Music platform: Apple Music

IEM: IE600

Adaptor: apple dongle (type c to 3.5mm) and apple dongle (lighting to 3.5mm)

Apple dongle on Android is limited to ~0.5Vrms if you're not using UAPP.

This is likely it. It is at a lower volume and so, people often describe the louder volume as the music being "opened up" or clearer.

The same description that comes from people using amps.

almost every android phone has a limitation that whatever quality of your media is, it will always be sampled to 16 bit 48 kHz. So all your 24 bit 96kHz, 16 bit 44.1 kHz will all be sampled to this. Unless you are using UAPP or use exclusive mode on tidal, both with an external dac, the sampling to 16/48kHz will always happen on most android phones. the external DAC will be used to process the signal without being resampled by the phone and it will be transparent.

I can't comment on apple, but I have a z fold 3 that I use to run my ie300, I notice that if I don't turn on the Dolby Atmos setting in the drop down (swipe down from top of screen) the sound stage isn't very good, and kind of sounds lifeless. I'd make sure atmos is enabled (if not already)
