Been hearing really good things about IEM’s and 64Audio. So I decided to pull the trigger and risk getting yelled at by the wife ( if she finds out ). Getting the ear impressions was a pain cuz of the distance to the audiologist office. $50 an ear with digital scans and 1.5 hrs each way. Also if anyone is interested the 10% off code works JKAZAM for JesseKazam on Twitch.
TheRugAndTug t1_j5rww01 wrote
You bought $1300 IEMs and don’t expect the wife to notice? I need that kind of bank account immediately.
Titan_456 OP t1_j5ryiho wrote
Lol we have our own accounts. Plus I’m better at money management then she is.

I make average money, nothing crazy. I like quality. Trust me I thought about it for 3 weeks before pulling the trigger.

Dude, believe it or not, there are people in this sub that have careers AND hobbies and can afford to buy stuff. You don’t have to be “rich”. I’m a normal middle class guy 15 years into my career and since I don’t have 15 kids or some kind of crippling gambling or drug addiction, I can afford to spend money on a hobby I enjoy, just like lots of other people.
$1300 was a lot of money when I was 20, not at 35. It all about perspective, you don’t know anything about OP.

enjoy them! give us a review after.

Good buy. Just fyi from my experience with customs. Shit will feel tight for awhile. Will take a few days to get them feeling adjusted to your ears

The ear impressions were one of my favourite parts!
The total, complete silence. Even thought of starting a business doing it for busy parents who just want some peace hahahaha!
Oh wait, I had the old style ones with the putty stuff.

Honestly I'm curious if the sound of really expensive IEMs is THAT much better than some more budget options e.g. I have Moondrop aria snow editions and I really enjoy the sound but how much better would some of these be compared to those?
(Not really an Audiophile so sorry if this sounds very dumb to ask xD)
Titan_456 OP t1_j5t3cp8 wrote
Honestly I wouldn’t be able to compare since these would be my first IEM’s. But from my understanding is the number of drivers and them being molded for your ear makes them better, you literally have to get molds of your ears so they can 3D print the shells of the IEM. 64 Audio has different models for different sounds. I chose these (A6T) cuz their supposed to be the sweet spot and they were recommended for gaming.

Yup, I enjoy his content and he seems real chill and down to earth. I watch a handful of streamers, Jesse and WillerZ and Sheef are my top 3.

I like quality lol 🤷🏼♂️

I got a newborn and have some molds that 64 said was missing some outer ear material. So I’m definitely gonna trim them and see if I can use them lol
TheoAPU t1_j5t3y5g wrote
No issues there, get a nice amplifier and DAC. Topping L50 Amp and Topping E50 DAC would be my combo stack suggestion for you.
Titan_456 OP t1_j5t43h1 wrote
I’ll look into them, I was thinking of a go xlr mini for the gaming setup as well
Micholous t1_j5t54ca wrote
Yeah all of em are awesome tbh. Great choices :D
Noob4Head t1_j5t64w5 wrote
Damn first pair of IEMs and you instantly go for over $1K ones.
It was also just a general question directed to everyone but thanks for the answer :D
Jazzkammer t1_j5tkmbw wrote
They are not. Especially customs. There is a reason custom IEMs are not common anymore with enthusiasts. Horrible (I mean BAD) resale value, cannot share them at meets, and no significant sound upgrades, just better isolation.
I had custom 1964 Ears V6 iems and my Tin T2s blow them out of the water. I would never buy customs again.
Noob4Head t1_j5tl5kr wrote
I see. Like I would assume that at some point you have reached a certain limit on how good audio can sound in IEMs. Of course the sound difference between a $20 set and a $100 set would be noticeable but I've always been curious if the sound difference between like an $100-200 set and a $1000 is also that noticeable.
Jazzkammer t1_j5tmdph wrote
I think $500 USD is where the diminishing returns curve starts to take effect in IEMs these days.
Noob4Head t1_j5tnknh wrote
I see, for now I put the line at about $200USD for audio stuff. My most expensive pair of headphones are my HD 5X jubilee's and I love them. The Moondrop aria snow editions I also really enjoy but yeah you can get about 12 pairs of those for one pair of these. So yeah that was why I was so curious about that.
Hover31 t1_j5tqkjq wrote
so its just the shape thats custom right? not the sound signature?
youmuace t1_j5uuu23 wrote
Going custom is for the fit, it's not something the majority of people need but it's something that some people, especially professionals, might want.
Cost/Price is not directly correlated with how much you might enjoy them, but if you find something you really like or want something specific and can't find it anywhere else then that high-end set of iems might be the ticket.
Noob4Head t1_j5uvfrb wrote
Yes that makes sense. It's like I said/asked to another one that replied to my message I'd assume there is a price limit somewhere that goes from actually improving the audio quality to just being for looks, fit and finish, brand name, etc.
Titan_456 OP t1_j5uxqhl wrote
Ya, custom made you the buyer for better fit and canceling out background noise.
LikesTheTunaHere t1_j5xcfs4 wrote
Might even save you money and will most deff save you time in the long by not having to chase small improvements a bunch of times over.

Titan_456 OP t1_j5xsxty wrote
Naw, I like money. The overtime is for the slush fund. I’ll keep buying what I want. Can’t take money with you when you die so why not spend it.
Noob4Head t1_j5xt8ke wrote
Haha that's fair, I've got that too.
Though I always try to be a little money conscious but I do treat myself to something since from time to time. That's why I got the FiiO K3 and the Moondrop Aria snows.
Z3R0_MP t1_j6impiu wrote
Its the better option overall as I have spent well over 2k on different iems that I simply just don't like because of the fit and getting customs seemed to be the best options for me.
Noob4Head t1_j6in7i3 wrote
I see, I don't really have that problem. As long as the eartips fit well most IEMs are comfortable for me but if you have so much fit issues with IEMs why don't you just get a decent pair of headphones? (random question maybe it's just idk if it's worth spending SO much on a custom fit pair.)
