I agree. But it’s widely used and will probably be the best option as most people they know likely use it.

They only discussed needing to send photos to one person (not people in general) and expressed that they care about quality.

The drop in quality of a photo on WhatsApp to most people is barely noticeable. Zooming in is a different story however. Chances are they’ll come across others who don’t have an iPhone so it’s still worth having for other people.
