I have to believe Apple has done its due diligence when it comes to finding out what the average smartphone user wants out of their camera. If you (like me) don’t care for the default iPhone camera output, then continue to shoot in ProRaw or use Lightroom Mobile to capture DNG images. That way you’ have the latitude you need to make your photos look the way you want.

Even if you had a professional-grade camera, you wouldn’t be happy with the native jpeg output; the algorithms that choose the level of sharpening, the colors, etc are designed around the average person. This is why most photographers shoot RAW.
