I have seen someone else post about this as well, but wanted to reiterate that I think this is a real defect with the 14. I’ve owned iPhones since 2009 and have never had a screen with so many deep scratches as this one. I’ve only owned it a month! Will be taking to Apple for replacement.

Make sure to add AppleCare+ so you only have to pay $29. Having scratches is not a warranty issue so they won’t replace it for free.

Throwing a screen protector on the replacement might be a good idea too. I went without screen protectors for years but after realizing my old iPhone 11 screen had a micro scratch the first day, it’s a requirement for me now and also keep spares on hand.

I’ve yet to notice any scratches of concern on my 14 Pro Max after having it since launch. Maybe something’s wrong with yours? I even had the 13 Pro and I would have to look real hard to see anything.

This is my thought as well. It might be a manufacturing issue with mine. Some of the scratches are really deep.

I always walk out of the shop with the new iPhone sealed in the box and straight to the screen protector shop. Makes it easier for them to put it on with no dust or fingerprints I figure 🤷‍♂️

Not a manufacturing issue, it is all the same glass used in the factory for all produced phones.

Ceramic Shield is stronger for impact but as a trade off is softer on the surface.

Apple won’t replace it, you will be responsible for the display cost. Hopefully you have applecare+.
