I forgot my own password…then has to reset the phone but I restored everything from the backup from a few days prior. However, my photos didn’t restore. Is there a way to get them back?

They should be backed up. My photos have followed me for 6-7 years phone after phone and often had to download if they were too old. Does that mean anything?

I would get on your computer and go check iCloud.com. Login and see if your photos are there on the cloud. If they aren’t, you may be out of luck

I checked iCloud.com on my phone. They’re all there, just not on my phone.

Lucky. Then it’s just a sync issue and your photos themselves are safe.
Personally I’d keep a copy of them all offline on an external drive.

Okay, phew! That’s great to hear. You’re pictures are safe, we just need them to sync to your iPhone :)
On your phone, open your Settings app. Click your iCloud profile at the very top, then click iCloud > Photos. Is “Sync this iPhone” enabled? If not, enable it. And if it IS already enabled, just for good measure go ahead and toggle it off and back on again. Just to be safe.
After checking all that, all you can really do is wait. Especially if you had a lot of photos, this could take awhile. Put your phone on its charger and make sure you’ve got a good connection to your Wi-Fi. It can take hours for the photos to finally finish restoring, but so long as they are definitely there on iCloud, you’re good. You didn’t lose them :)

Did you have them backed up to iCloud or to iTunes? If not, unfortunately your only chance is to look into paying a third party data recovery service. If you go that route, please take care to do your research first. A lot of them are just scams.
