Submitted by Metracrepas t3_zzdrdc in iphone

I have an iPhone 13 that works perfectly, except for the side button. When I click the side button the phone turns off like 0.5 seconds later, when other people's phones turn off instantly as soon as the button is pressed. I tried changing the "click speed" of the side button in Accessibility, but the fastest one is "default", which is the one I've always had.

This is especially annoying when I put the phone in my pocket and stays on inside it.

Help please!

Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and turn off Double-Click Side Button

Settings / Accessibility / Accessibility Shortcut. Do you have one of those options turned on?

I have “guided access” turned on and I can’t toggle it off! What does it do?

Edit: figured it out. Thank you!

Check if Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access is toggled on. That will also introduce that delay.

It basically lets you lock the phone to a particular app so someone can't just exit it and use anything else.

Not sure why your phone is stuck in Guided Access though.
