My phone screen went black/unresponsive 2 days ago and I assumed it had died, but when I plugged it in to charge the screen remained unresponsive. I tried to force restart by holding down the side and volume buttons, but to no avail. I have spoken to someone online from Apple support, who told me this could have happened as a result of not updating iOS.

I don't see how I can fix it if the screen will not turn on, does anyone know what I can do?

I’ve woken up a few times with my iPhone being black and unresponsive. Did you try the up volume, down volume, hold the power button hard reset?

I left it alone, and did the button thing one more time and it turned on

Same thing happened to me today took it to the Apple Store working again in less than 10 mins :)
