I have to be familiar with those models to note the OS will have differences OP won’t like and a technically faster clock speed doesn’t automatically translate to a faster phone because Google can’t optimize for a greater variety of processors whereas Apple can optimize for a small handful of processors?

You're missing the point. Google isn't the one that is having the optimization problem. The OEMs making the phones are. I agree with your point that apple and iOS is a better optimized system. Just know that it is more the OEMs fault than Google's for the lack of optimization.
