I care. A lot. Motherfuckers need to put some hustle in their step.

as someone who lived in new york until two years ago, you can pry this law from my cold dead hands. i fucking hate getting out of my car when i’m en route somewhere so not having to pump my own gas is an incredible luxury to me. i don’t care if people think it’s inefficient. maybe it is. i love it.

You can tell whose not from NJ pretty quick in this thread.

Something like half the residents of New Jersey were born somewhere else.

So fucking annoying. The attendant is so slow and then you have to give them your zip code for some machines.

I enjoy going to the gas station that I always go to give a fist pump to the guy working, say what's up, and sit in my car comfortably while he pumps the gas.
Also a huge plus for me is, I like paying for gas with cash to get the cheaper price. If there wasn't a dude out there, I'd have to go inside and pay. Also what do you go in first and tell them cash and then go back in and pay after pumping? When out of state I always just use the credit card.

When paying with cash in other states, you go inside and give them cash, pump your gas and then go back to get your change (if there is any). If you don't want to go back inside, you can buy a fixed amount without filling up

If NJ allows for self-pumping gas, I want the law to also provide some concessions. Maybe require gas prices to always be 15% below neighboring states and a minimum contribution per gallon to the state transportation fund... so it's gotta come out of their pocket.
They'll lay off thousands of immigrants who will end up on unemployment, with all of us paying the bill.
They WILL NOT lower prices. They'll just keep it as profit. If that's not the case, then lets agree with the above and codify it into law rather than trusting companies to "do the right thing".

No way. I do not want to pump my own gas.

try to cross post this to r/newjersey, they seem to love it. I can't see the point, its frustrating I can't do it myself. Maybe JC gas stations are the slowest and most understaffed?

Have you tried to pump your own gas and someone stopped you? I've pumped my own gas a handful of times over the years and the attendant didn't seem to care one bit 🤷🏻

Most of the stations I've been to require the attendant to swipe their access card before the pump will work.

Why would I want to pump my own gas in the cold or the rain? It’s not like gas is cheaper in PA or NY. Also I rent a parking space for my work truck at a gas station. The majority of customers sit at the pumps forever after they pay. They clearly don’t care that the attendant takes their sweet time.
