I’ve noticed this too. As a mom handling a stoller, it is annoying. I don’t know the answer - it may be to prevent turnstile jumping; lots of folks use those handicap turnstiles to avoid paying fares. After searching, I found one handicap turnstile that was open. I hope they leave at least one open everyday.
