It’s in incredible condition for something 20+ years old, I throw that type of stuff in the trash immediately

Yeah, I found it in some old free books I picked up a few years back

It happens.

I recently found 20 year old mint condition menus from two local takeout places I frequent. All because I cleaned every newer one out of the house and went hunting for them.

Big price differences?

It was a big difference from even before inflation, with the Chinese menu. Most of the prices were around half of what they are now. The chicken place was already overpriced back then, so they're up only about 40%

Baumol's cost disease, labor intensive services increase in price faster than goods. Can't quite automate a chef nearly as efficiently as a production line can be.

Jersey City used to be a lot more diverse🥴

The white (non-hispanic) population exploded from <checks notes> 21.7% to 22.1% from 2013 to 2020, only making it either the 3rd or 4th largest ethnic group depending how you're counting in both years. Jersey City is a VERY diverse city, and has not stopped being one.
