I know parking near Hamilton Park has always been difficult, but this past week or so it's been impossible. Even people being desperate and parking in front of driveways or outside the "no parking" zone at the corners of streets. Is a street under construction or no parking in a couple of blocks all of a sudden?

Edit: Second question - is there a way for people to get a resident parking permit if they don't live here? I thought I read something a while back that people drive to DTJC from the suburbs and then take the PATH to commute into NYC. Is this true?

Yes, one of the streets, I think maybe Erie Street, is being resurfaced.

Also holiday shopping and people not wanting to pay mall parking fees. Lots of stores started early Black Friday sales the past few weeks.

Mall is reduced taxes so in a time of inflation, reduced taxes, sales and avoiding the parking lot become a draw. Savings add up quickly.

That means they're not Black Friday sales. Black Friday is one specific day.

And the JC target had fully setup their seasonal christmas section prior to Halloween. Post pandemic everyone's just doing whatever the hell they want, it's dogs marrying cats out there

Yes, but we don't have to call it a Black Friday sale. They can do it all they want.

It's a sale.

I'm with you but we're in a post logic society at the moment. Can't fight city hall & naked capitalism and all that

You don't have to fight it. You can just call it a "sale" when you reference it. It's also less typing.

You must have Jersey City address and have ur car registered to that address to get resident parking permit. Zero way around it

OK I wasn't sure. It sounded off that during work hours it's still crazy packed and hard to get a spot, so when someone mentioned suburbanites getting some kind of commuter pass it made sense.

I moved here in 2010. I used to street park and always for tickets when I forgot to move my car. My memory sucks so I moved it to a lot to save money. Then Sandy took my car and saved me more money.

On street sweeping days its next to impossible to find a spot to move to with multiple streets under construction and no parking signs
