The developer of 88 Regent built a staircase that bottoms out on train tracks. NJ Transit said that's an incredibly dumb thing to do, change it or close it. So the developer barricaded it with a cheap fence.

It will come as no surprise to many here that said developer is Peter Mocco.

They are going to move the stairs to the area adjacent, so the stairs will face the walkway instead of the tracks. HBLR needs to relocate the signal boxes that are currently in the way first.

That's great to hear! In a spat between a notoriously unaccountable builder and a beleaguered transit agency I was pretty sure the only resolution would be the fence falling over.

Streetview shows it used to be at level. How is building stairs allowed by ADA if it was previously accessible?
