Become a regular at a neighborhood spot - Ed and Mary's or white star, and walk the half mile to Newark Ave when you feel like something more exciting. Not that serious. Is it more residential than literally on Grove Street? Sure but it's not the suburbs. Better to be near a park, in my opinion, especially when you're walking distance to bars anyway.

Close to the water is not any closer to Newark Ave, so not sure why that's relevant.
