But someone could've had a dash cam and turned me in. This was just last night

It's more likely they would have posted the dashcam video on r/IdiotsInCars than giving it to the police. Be more careful, but don't sweat this one too much.

Police in MA do not write tickets based on dashcams unless its citing for an accident. They'd never waste their time chasing a redlight runner where no accidents occurred

Really? They're not allowed to use dashcams for red light runners from other citizens?

I know anxiety is tough to deal with but take a deep breath and let this one go. Even if someone had a dash cam and turned it in, no one could actually prove you were driving the vehicle, the police wouldn’t send a citation for that.

I can't imagine someone having such a shitty life that they'd prioritize turning someone in for a red light. I mean it's not like it was a hit and run or drunk driving or something. I see way worse on a daily basis.

I once tried to turn in footage from a blatant hit and run that I caught on cam and they weren't even remotely interested. Acted like I was weird for even trying lol

yeah I'm not surprised honestly. all the more reason I was surprised about this warning in the mail, weird amt of effort for something so mundane compared to other stuff going on in traffic that gets ignored.

This is just your anxiety talking. You are okay, sorry that this is causing you so much strife. But it's a very common, normal occurrence and no harm was done. You're good, try and put it behind you.

Extremely doubtful. First off, doubtful that anyone would care enough to bother to do that. And second, that the police would even accept it or give enough of a shit about it to send a ticket even if they did.

I'm not 100% but it might not even be legal for them to do so.

That’s a reach. Not a thing that happens. Cops aren’t going to write you a ticket based on some random guy’s dash camera. Come on.
