I'll be relocating to Raynham, MA for work, but I'm new to the state so would appreciate some location recommendations.

Ideally a fun place for young people, restaurants, shops, etc. Would appreciate low crime rate and safety. I do not want to commute more than 30/35 mins or rent > $2,000/month.

Any good places you guys can suggest? Appreciate any insight!

Are we to surmise that you are looking for a one bedroom? The post doesn't say how many bedrooms you need.

Well, unfortunately there’s not much of a young scene close. Your probably best looking in the providence area

I think Bridgewater may be a good option for you. It's not as lively or fun as it could be, but it's a safe and friendly place to live and about 20ish minutes to Raynham. It's a University town, so there's a seasonal crowd of young folks and nice walks to be had through the charming town center. Again, entertainment options aren't stellar, but there's a couple decent bars if that's your thing. Also the commuter rail station in town makes excursions to Boston wicked easy.

I hope that wherever you choose to go, the area provides you with everything you need to be happy. I had a lovely childhood growing up here and southeast MA will always be my home. Best of luck to you!

You could look at something in the Attleboro area. Idk about night life and all that but it’s close enough to raynham and providence that you could make those trips easily enough. There’s also a commuter rail to Boston

Any suburb in that area would be good. Brockton, New Bedford, and Fall River are your dingy and crime-ridden cities, but know that no city in MA is truly that bad compared to other places in the US. It’s mostly downtown areas and the triple-decker neighborhoods abutting the downtown areas. You shouldn’t have a problem finding an affordable place though. For fun and nightlife, Providence is your go-to city, as well as Boston. Both are easy to get to. Also drive to the Cape during off season to enjoy the empty beaches.

Maybe Attleboro which is somewhere around halfway between Raynham and Providence. If you’re looking for nightlife stuff, Providence is your best bet. The towns around Raynham are basically suburbs, not a lot of nightlife. Or just live in Raynham or Taunton, have a super short commute, you’ll only be about a half hour from Providence.

Check out Easton, South Easton, North Easton, anything close to RT 138 should be an easy commute.

And nothing going on at all….

Nothing going on in that neck of the woods anyway. Family oriented area. Nice library, Borderland State Park, YWCA, plenty of markets and shopping plazas.

Lots of condo complexes that have been converted to rental units with reasonable rent.

You want more excitement; you are going to have at least a 1-hour commute and higher rent the closer you get to Boston or the ocean.

That’s where I live. I’m a mid 50’s guy with a family and a mortgage. Extremely boring besides my season tix to Xfinity center.

Not exactly a great place for the younger crowd.

Marion isn’t fun in the sense of lively night life but it is fun if you want a pretty, small town on the water.

Perfect town about 2,000 miles to the south called 'miami'

Check out Dedham. It's not too long of a commute to Raynham, but it's also close enough to Boston for a night out in the city, plus it has a few nice bars and restaurants as well.

Super random suggestion. Dedham is a suburb. Generic and boring. Not really that close to Raynham either.

If you’re under 30 and single, I’d suggest moving closer to Providence.

You should check our Davis Square in Somerville. You’d have a reverse commute.

But you'd still have to get through the city. 93S from Somerville to Quincy sucks 24 hrs/day.

Check out the North Shore! Personally I highly recommend downtown Beverly. Great bar/restaurant scene all in walking distance of each other, 30-35 min from Boston by train, wicked safe and affordable. Not to mention, walking distance to the beach too

EDIT: Disregard me! I read your initial post as your job is in Boston, didn't see Raynham!

bit of a commute to Raynham though...

Ahhh, nice catch 😅. Idk why I read that as "Boston", must have skimmed too quickly

Beverly is at least 1 hour from Raynham without traffic. This person would be spending at least 3 hours a day traveling to and from work.
