You can learn a lot about people through art history. Might not be the most profitable, but hey you learned something that could change your outlook on life.

You learn a lot about people through engineering. And it’s extremely profitable, and you learned something that could change you outlook on life.

Of course, but clearly you haven't learned that despite money running the world, there are people who derive a meaningful life pursuing areas that interest them regardless of the monetary gain.

I said it as a joke because I am an engineer but since we are going there, one’s pleasure is not the end all. There’s a reason certain jobs make more than other. With some exceptions of course, because the world isn’t perfect nor fair, money comes from providing utility to society— in other words providing happiness to society. Fortunately, I enjoy engineering and I get to help provide drinkable water to millions of people at the same time.

This is downplaying what someone with an Art History degree can do with it. The arts are extremely important to our society. If all we have is water/food/medicine, then we’re no different than a monkey in a zoo.

Thank you, I concur.

What is "happiness" and how is a subjective term quantified monetarily and thus given "importance"?

As long as you're not relying on others to help you pay rent, making less money is fine.

Are you seriously trying to convince the karma whoring dopamine-squad that their pleasure isn't the only thing that matters in life?
Good luck with that.
