What publisher was bullied to stop publishing books?

Think of the mental gymnastics it took to write an article saying "it's okay for activists to cancel a book, but not for you to get mad at them for it"

Read the article lol. No book was banned by the left.

DerpyMistake t1_je7eakc wrote

Oh, so they didn't try banning it? I must've not understood the point of trying to get the publisher to not publish it, then

Literary figures and employees of penguin signed a petition arguing the book went against the values of the publishing house. Upon reflection penguin decided not to publish to book. There are lots of different publishers. One publishing company deciding not to print a book does not a book ban make. The article explicitly states there are publishing houses who would be happy to publish the book. You don't have the right to have your book published by whoever you want to.

Kinda like how that bakery tried to ban gay wedding cakes, right?

What is this even about? Why do conservatives not understand liberal is open market economics, and can swing far into the right? Reaganomics are a form of liberalism.

This is about how both the left and the right want to ban books but they go about it in different ways. I personally believe no books should be banned.

Edit: the fact this comment has this many down votes makes me worry about that Orwellian future. So many people casually thinking it's ok to ban books is frightening.

What books are the left trying to ban? What do you think a liberal is?

He’s talking about publishing houses turning down alt-right books, because publishing houses turn down about 90% of the manuscripts they receive and they have better things to do than publish moronic nonsense, but apparently to OP that’s as bad as banning classic literature.

Way to go by assuming what I mean. I provided links in the comments about the books I'm talking about.

I mean yeah but where’s the context for the bottom part?

OP, I searched every comment on this thread and I don't see any links posted by u/jedi1josh? Did you post the links under a different account?

No they're in the comments. I'll provide one link to get you started but Iput them in the comments and there's not many comments to look through.

Friend, I have looked at every single comment. That link is literally not posted anywhere else in the comments on my screen. It either didn't get posted right, or it's been taken down.

I'm looking at them right now. It's still up.

Interesting. Maybe it's hidden from everyone but you because its downvoted a lot? Or maybe its just hidden on mobile? I guarantee I can't see it.

No it's not. Both result in making it difficult for those who want to read it to read it.

Yes. For anyone who wants to read it. Also you can have the communist manifesto as well. Let people read them and decide for themselves why they're bad.
