Not quite. Hitler was a soldier in WW1, and while in the trenches they got gassed. Well, he tried getting his gas mask on, but his mustache was too big for the mask to seal properly and he got gassed, causing him to lose a testicle and he shaved his mustache to a toothbrush mustache so that wouldn't happen again.
At least that's what I learned years ago
