Lottery is a tax on the poor and/or stupid. Chasing an infinitesimally small chance of a win. Lots of stuff in life would be awesome if you won or achieved, doesn’t mean you burn money for it.

Well it depends. Chasing the jackpot on ticket drawings is a infinitesimally small chance of winning. And honestly spending a couple bucks when the jackpot is super high allows for a fun daydream, and isn't very harmful. Provided you keep it to just a few bucks which I know not everyone does.
What makes scratchers much more insidious is you DO have a good chance of winning, at least too FEEL like you do. If you buy 10 scratches you'll probably come out "ahead" on a few of them, but much like casino gambling over a large aggregation "The house always wins"
