I can't say with any certainty what it WAS, but my opinion is it's pretty unlikely that it was a bullet, particularly on a horizontal surface. Unless it hit perfectly head-on, a bullet would have very likely ricocheted and left an oblong mark or divot

True. It’s been there for as long as I can remember, but my family doesn’t possess any guns. I think it might’ve been a meteorite!

That would be cool, so that's the story I'd go with! LOL

It could be as simple as an air bubble in the concrete that eventually spalled (fancy concrete term) the top off of it

Oh, that’s probably a more plausible explanation. Although, if you look closely, the edges of the crater (lol) are charred, like how a firecracker would make marks

Your family's lack of gun ownership isn't an issue. People fire guns off at New Year's and the bullets have to land somewhere. Every once in a while someone unrelated gets injured or killed.
