I love reading about the production of movies and shows, even if the film or show isn't one I personally cared for that much. If I watch something I haven't seen before, odds are good I'll head to the Wikipedia page sometime in the near future to read up about how it was conceived, cast, shot, edited, etc.

I also read constantly (about two books a week) and recently completed Made Men, about the making of Goodfellas. What are some other good books about the production of specific movies that you'd recommend? I say "specific movies" because I'm not looking for books about filmmaking in general, but rather books about the making of particular films.

Two that I really enjoyed (one about a classic and one about a bomb):

  • "Space Odyssey: Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C. Clarke, and the Making of a Masterpiece"
  • "The Devil's Candy: The Bonfire of the Vanities Goes to Hollywood"

Outrageous Conduct: Art, Ego, and the Twilight Zone Case by Stephen Farber

About the infamous accident on the set of Twilight Zone : The Movie that killed actor Vic Morrow and two children in 1982. Really amazing story, and a no holds barred account of the accident and it's aftermath.
