Don’t Worry Darling was released domestically September 23rd, 2022. The movie stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as leads, with this being the second film from actor and director Olivia Wilde.

The film as of now has a 6.2/10 on IMDb and a 38% on rotten tomatoes. What’s your opinion on the film? Do you think it should have been a rom-com, a drama, etc…? What if: It was just set in the 50s? The Victory Project was an actual project, like for weapons or experiments? There were not any sex scenes? Comment below.

The promotional campaign for a movie shouldn't be more interesting than the movie itself.

I was expecting to hate it and looooved it! I don’t care what anyone says, it’s been the most enjoyable film I’ve paid money to see in the past year.

The film looks good, it's well cast (for the most part), but the plot was pretty nonsensical and overall, just felt like a waste of potential.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was a fun, twisty thriller. Florence Pugh, Pine and Wilde were all really good in it. Styles is passable except when he has to express BIG emotions. It looked great and had an incredible soundtrack. The social critique element is the weakest aspect of the film - I don't think it worked at all.

For starters I’m a huge fan of Flo. I think she’s great, fresh talent and I haven’t disliked her in anything I have seen to date. I’m also a really big fan of reality benders where people find out their world is fake/simulations and all that stuff. I’m not a huge fan of Harry Styles, never have been even when I was a young girl and 1D was all the rage, so if I’m being honest I was a little annoyed that he was added. But I did end up liking his performance-is he going to earn accolade for it? No. But the chemistry was there and I think he did good. I’ve seen far more mediocre and after seeing him I think having Shia cast would’ve made the movie a complete flop. I would’ve never bought Shia in a role like this. Maybe like the real world dude but not the one within Victory. Also, I really LOVED seeing Chris Pine as a villain! I feel like I’ve never seen him as anything other than the nice guy who either gets or doesn’t get the girl. Seeing him play a creepo cultist was fun and I honestly wish the movie would’ve gone more into his story. All that being said, I did not go into this move believing I was going to be watching the next award magnet. I also think that I related to it on a personal level because my ex was like Harry’s character. I worked all day long, took care of our house and kids, and dealt with my own health issues while he would sit on the game all day and then belittle me bc the house was dirty or I worked too much or I wasn’t around to make him feel special. And he would say things like oh he’d kill for me, he wants to give me a different life but then would do absolutely nothing to actually get us there and when I began calling him out on his inability to actually change, he gaslit and isolated me from others so I wouldn’t question it anymore. Just like Harry’s guy-Rather than get his ass off his little incel computer cult and get a job to help his wife, his idea of helping is to literally force her into a fake world where he can trap her, gaslight her, and never actually have to be a better person bc he can fake it all in the simulation. That kind of experience is super traumatizing and I think as humans we just innately connect to pieces of art or media that make us feel seen. So, sorry for the long winded reply but those are my reasons! I do get why others may have found it droll or pedantic, I think if it had different people in the development it could’ve really blown tf up!

I thought it was broadly enjoyable but felt half formed and the last act was way too rushed even for a film that’s already a bit too long. Florence Pugh was fantastic.

Honestly, as mediocre of an actor that Harry is, he actually did a great job. Obviously he needs to work more on his acting, i don't think it was bad in a tacky way, and it was still watchable. Yes, I'm a Harry Styles fan, yes i believe he can do better.

I don't like Olivia Wilde but she actually did a great job with direction, the production was superb and i really enjoyed the music in the film. (I'm not very much aware of the technical stuff so I'm sorry if I'm wrong). I didn't like Olivia Wilde's acting.

Florence Pugh is just iconic. She's so talented, and despite all the drama she has emerged from the ashes like a phoenix. I am so in love with her.

Another person i wanna appreciate is Chris Pine. I never knew about him before but now that i do, I'm so fascinated by the man. His acting is so fucking amazing AND he has a degree in English Literature (which is what I'm pursuing) and it makes me feel so good for some reason???? IDK OKAY THATS STUPID.

But overall, no matter how "bad" people say it was, i enjoyed it and i definitely need a 10 hour behind the scenes documentary because this movie just felt like a movie.

** Spits on Chris Pine *

The part where she got squished into the window was awesome - unnerving and funny. The rest was mostly just a nice looking episode of Black Mirror

Good build-up but the twist was kinda boring. Like, there were better options that the movie alluded to, but they chose the least interesting

One of the most uniquely inept movies I’ve ever seen. It had a promising premise and it was ruined by making the wrong creative choices at every possible opportunity. I couldn’t believe when the “twist” was the very obvious thing that you could gather from the trailer, and then they didn’t even explain the how or why of it. Nothing makes any sense. I spent the entire movie re-writing each scene in my head because everything is just so disjointed. You have reveals that go nowhere, obvious questions that are never answered, and twists and turns that couldn’t possibly have surprised anyone. It treats its audience like idiots and falls flat on its face every time it tries to be clever. Awful movie.
