Just listed a few movies I’ve seen. Never seen Citizen Kane nor did I say or imply that the movies listed were the only ones

Kane is just the poster-child for “robbed”.
Not to slander How Green Was My Valley… but yeah.

The Academy doesn't just add categories on a whim. The last time they added one was in 2001 when Best Animated Feature Film was introduced. Before that was 1981 with Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Then you have to go all the way back to 1948 for Best Costumes.

So what you’re saying is that it’s about time to add a new one?

They were planning on adding Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film in 2018. The backlash was fierce and they didn't go through with it. Multiple categories have been proposed including Best Casting and Best Stunts and have been rejected every time. So no. Not really.

I doubt they’d go back and retroactively give awards to older movies. But a category that absolutely should exist is Best Stunt Performer or something similar.

A special award category just for Josie and the Pussycats.

The Sight and Sound 250 does that I can’t wait for this decade’s update next month. The Oscars shouldn’t bother since they already waste time on tributes to old stars and people can go to their museum.

Didn’t they just add a category for “best popular film” or something absurdly stupid like that?

Well it ain't gonna happen.
but if it did.... the one thing that needs to be acknowledged is the best acting performance of all time.
Sadly, this guy did not get the Oscar he so richly deserved.

You think “overlooked by the Academy” and come up with American Psycho but not Citizen Kane?
I mean… It’s definitely a take.
