Can someone explain to me how a group of interdimensional demon/angels are unable to get through the steel cage in Roland Voight's home. He put the cage up around his home to keep them out and put an extra cage in his study to keep them in at times. Did I miss it in the movie or are they really able to appear and disappear but not go through a metal frame?

he was big into the occult and i assumed he found a type of pattern/symbol that they couldn’t cross through. stupid, i agree, but that’s the way i saw it

Might be explained in the book. Not too sure because I haven’t read it. If it’s not there, then it’s either a creative license taken or they’re going off the old folklore regarding spirits and “cold iron” or what we call wrought/cast iron nowadays and needing a plot device.

Part of the lure. They have rules they must abide by. Same as the puzzle. They can't just do whatever they want. There are limits.

And its implied he obsessed for years and researched

Same shit as >!13 Ghosts, where there's some vague runic magic going on that creates barriers!<

It's a plot device you see from time to time but it's not at all anything we haven't seen before.

The big, common example is >!the powder circle in witchcraft circles that provides protection and should never be broken!<

If you're into Horror, you can probably name an example of that being done in a TV show within this last week. Spoiler: >!First episode of Cabinet of Curiosities!<

I definitely have seen it in other movies but I guess when the idea was given that once you are marked there is no escape from the cenobites, and then when I saw them get stopped by a metal gate I was a bit surprised.

I just watched it and I really gotta disagree. The only scene I was like wtf really? was when that guy literally just walks into getting stabbed. Other than that, solid horror flick with a ton of production value and a good message.

Tbh I totally forgot about it and was only interested when I found out Jaime Clayton was going to be involved and I expected it to be bad but she nails the role, the cenobites are all interesting in their own ways too. There's really not much to have an issue with imo.

What about it specifically bothered you?
